Zebulon Cottage
We have stayed in this cottage at Sunflower Gites for the last two years and have just booked again for August 2014.
The property is always well maintained and spotlessly clean, bedding and towels changed weekly. The owners are always available on site and provide good service. We love the location of Sunflower Gites in the charming village of Gemozac and there is a good pizzeria restaurant which is super for the grandchildren as well as a lovely Hotel for fine dining. The market in Gemozac on Friday mornings is terrific for fresh vegetables and cheeses and there is a fantastic Super U on the outskirts of the village which
stocks everything you could possibly want - this also has a good coffee/snack bar.
We just love the area and the peace and quiet of the location.
We can readily recommend the Sunflower Gites to friends and family.
We have selected Pastiche in the unit review box as there is no mention of Zebulon which we have stayed in.

Lovely gites!
We stayed at the sunflower gites last year - in the middle of the lovely heatwave! So the pool was a big bonus
The property was lovely and clean and well-maintained
Trevor and Gail are excellent hosts and provide very good local knowledge - they even cooked a lovely pizza for us half way through the week (a great way to meet the neighbours and for the children to play without needing baby sitters!).
The gites are located close to the beaches at Royan and the cognac houses - both are great places to visit.

Happy Holidays
We have stayed at these Gites for the past three years with our children and grandchildren because we love their peaceful setting and close proximity to the beautiful village of Gemozac, which has many facilities, including a wonderful Super U and excellent market on Fridays.
The properties are well maintained and spotlessly clean with immaculate towels and bedding which are replaced weekly.
They are surrounded by plenty of communal space but they also afford privacy by virtue of each gite being divided by a tall hedge on their patio area for bbq's and sitting outside in the evenings. There is a superb pool with sun loungers, as well as a kiddies pool. The location is well situated for trips to the coast, exploring interesting villages on the Gironde as well as visiting Pons, Cognac and Saintes.
Gail and Trevor the owners live on site and are always available for help and advice without being intrusive. They organise a most enjoyable pizza party, one evening a week which is great fun for both adults and children.

A wonderful spot for a family holiday

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week holiday at Sunflower Gites. The Gites was equipped with all we could want, the pool and grounds great for us and the children. Bikes to cycle into the bakery, wonderful beaches nearby, great weather with some spectacular storms and pizza night ! Many thanks to Trevor and Gail for their hard work to make it all so relaxing for us.

Perfect for kids, you can actually relax!
We have young children and the main thing was to find a holiday where we could actually relax and have a holiday ourselves. We did at the Sunflower Gites. The gite we had was well equipped, a good space and had it's own personal garden area as well as the shared area. We could let the children run around and play on the swings with the other children, or amuse themselves with books and games that are kept there. The pool was fantastic, heated and large with enough sunloungers for all. I spent many hours relaxing while the children enjoyed the pool. We have booked to go again in 2014

Fantastic Holiday
We had a fantastic stay at Sunflower Gites, Trevor and Gail were excellent hosts and we were made to feel really welcome. The gites are well equipped, very clean and pleasant inside. The swimming pool is particularly good with a toddler pool for young children and plenty of sun loungers if you just want to relax. Our kids loved the pool and wanted to be in there all the time. There were also games available to borrow, a slide and swing for the little ones and plenty of open space for more energetic games. We particularly enjoyed the "pizza night" held by Trevor and Gail assisted by their children where we and other guests had a chance to get together and sample the excellent pizzas which were made to order. Sunflower Gites is a wonderfully quiet place to relax set among vineyards and beautiful fields of sunflowers but it is also very easy to find and close to local supermarkets and facilities. The resorts and beaches of Royan, Saint-Georges-de-Didonne and La Palmyre are a short drive away and there are plenty of tourist attractions locally including the ancient town of Talmont where you can wander around the interesting little shops, Cognac where you can tour the factories and sample the brandy and the zoo at La Palmyre which is a must with kids! We would thoroughly recommend Sunflower Gites, we have stayed at several gite complexes over the last few years and this was by far the best. We hope to return again in the futur

Excellent modern light and airy gites.
Enormous pool.
Peace and quiet whilst still plenty to entertain our 8 year old.
The pizza evening was the icing on the cake.

sunflower gites - a perfect family holiday
Sunflower gites offer immaculate, well provisioned and very comfortable accommodation. The property and pool were very well maintained and the owners were welcoming, helpful yet discrete. It was an ideal base from which to explore the beaches and coastline in the Charente and also to go more inland to Cognac etc.. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, especially families. This was our second time at Sunflower gites and both holidays have been fantastic and truly memorable. Kayaking, visiting chateaus, go karting, rope courses, quiet beaches and pretty villages are all around. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Sunflower Gites.

Perfect Holiday

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at Sunflower gites, the property and it's surroundings, more than satisfied our needs, we couldn't get the kids out of the pool and they loved the scuba diving. The pizza evening was a great bonus (i didn't have to cook !!) a must !
Can't wait to return.

A weekly pizza night is a nice way for families to get to know each other at Sunflower Gites, whose Yorkshire-born owners, Trevor and Gail, cook the pizzas in a traditional wood-fired oven. Apart from that, guests are left to their own devices but the kids will soon become friends thanks to the playground, two pools, outdoor table tennis and big lawn for football and cricket. In a converted cottage and barn, the gites sleep between four and six and have their own terrace and barbecue area. A 20-minute drive takes you to the popular seaside resort of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, just one of the vast sandy beaches along this Atlantic coast. A short drive in the other direction is Cognac, for museums, churches and tasting tours.

Wonderful Gites in a sunny location

This year will be our third visit to Sunflower Gites. Over the years we have stayed in several different gites in the area, but these are by far the best. They are very well equipped with all mod cons and extremely clean. The owners are very welcoming and on hand if needed. The gites are in a quiet rural location and there is a recently extended Super U on the other side of the village. Our son enjoyed the scuba diving lesson in the pool at the gites and the aerial assault course at St George de Didonne, which also has a lovely clean, wide, sandy beach - ideal for young children. There are several interesting places to visit nearby such as Cognac, with its old streets and distilleries and the excellent La Palmyre Zoo. Further away La Rochelle and Ile de Re are worth visiting
